Insider Notebook: Klitschko-Haye in Talks, Oscar in Limbo

By Robert Morales - Promoter Dan Goossen on Tuesday wanted to make one thing perfectly clear - an accord for the much-discussed heavyweight title fight between Wladimir Klitschko and Chris Arreola is not close to being reached.

"With the holidays, everything was kind of put on hold," said Goossen, Arreola's promoter. "There were initial talks and there is interest, obviously. But there are no real substantial negotiations going on right now."

Goossen has said since the middle of last year that his goal is to get Arreola a title shot sometime this year. The question is, is Arreola ready to challenge Klitschko?

"Yes," Goossen said. "And that is the fight we would like to get."

Let's flash back to Nov. 29. Arreola was decked by hard-hitting Travis Walker in the second round of their fight at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif. He appeared hurt, and he looked like he was almost in shock before he got to his feet, eventually stopping Walker in the next round in one heck of a thrilling fight. [details]

haye is a fool with no respect, wlad or vitali would beat him quite easily

i despise boxers who talk trash, and haye is one of them

hayes style and chin will fail him against wither klitschko, although i do see him beating several american heavyweights

as for arreola- come on do any of you actually think he has a good chance vs wlad......he will go down and out in one round, although he has a slight punchers chance

So do you feel Haye/Klit (either) shouldn't happen?

Haye vs the klits make more sense IMO than the klits constantly beating up fat bums who can do jack **** but making their fat stomach even fatter! They now have a chance to fight a guy who for:
            1. Have the power to hurt'em
            2. Have the speed to outwork'em
            3. Have the charisma to attract a huge audience (meaning big payday)
            4. Have a rather poor chin and takes chances which gives the klits plenty opportunities to hurt Haye (Making it an even more exciting fight for the audience to watch!)

            Make the fight happen!

The HW division needs a shake up fight and Haye and Arreola are shake up fights. There havent been many opponents who have made the Klits actually FIGHT and I think H and A will do just that. Whether they win or not isn't as important as whether they will make the fights exciting. As ****ed up as it sounds, excitement is what the HW division needs right now more than positioning. It will help boxing.

Agreed, not only was this a very good article, it is excellent news! You know, even though I am not a fan of the Klist. brothers, I have to respect them for fighting anyone and everyone. It really is not their fault that there are not great heavyweights during this era.

David Haye and Arreola, whether or not they deserve a title shot, are needed in the heavyweight division and will make 2009 action packed. Please Arreola, we are beggining you to get i shape. I hope Haye wins against Wlad, but if he does not, you better be ready to rumble with Wlad, and he always comes in shape ready to go 15 rounds and is very powerful. With that said, I think you can get inside of him and knock him out!
