I strongly advise Pacquiao to stay away from Margarito but...

The same story would be there like against Oscar - he is too big, too strong, good chin/Pacquiao has no chance without the B.S of, - "Oscar threw the fight/he is shot because of losing too much weight.

For the same reason, beating Mayweather doesn't nearly have the same shock value because Floyd or his fans (myself) might have an excuse for him being rusty.

However he just has no shot in this one. And what are the odds that Margarito shows up like Oscar, ready for the taking???

NONE. BUT THAT'S THE LEGENDARY PART I'M TALKING ABOUT.
Manny Pacquiao is an awesome fighter and has done great things, but I think he should stick to fighting Hatton and then take other comers around 140. If Floyd comes back I think they will fight but the odds are definitely against him beating Mayweather. But your assesment is spot on, a win over Margarito would do more for him and would actually make all those comparisons to Armstrong and Robinson a little more credible.

The problem is he has less of a chance of meeting and beating Margarito than Floyd. Floyd might come back rusty, struggle with weight, or lost a step and be unable to keep up with Manny's combination of power and speed (though unlikely). But Tony would probably have a little bit of trouble finding him but absolutely no regard for his power and throw many more punches than even Manny, eventually stopping him.

In my opinion, he shouldn't think about any of those guys. I can see Cotto doing to Manny what Erik Morales did in the first fight, with the exception that Cotto has the size and strenght to even stop Manny, beyond just the talent.
