Nobody today is really like Gatti.
Adamek is comparable when you think about both guys having heart and a ton of courage, but skill-wise/career-wise they are quite different. I'd say that Adamek is significantly more well rounded than Gatti was. Gatti could punch, but he wasn't nearly as technically sound as Adamek currently is. Tomasz fights well behind his jab, throws compact punches and throws them in combination. He has decent overall speed, solid two handed power, a sound jab, a great chin, heart and stamina.
Gatti was so famous for his comeback victories. Adamek has never been in a position where he was flat out getting his ass kicked and came back when it looked like he was done. Gatti was in that position several times. Ruelas and Rodriguez were the fights that really got that ball rolling.
I'd say Israel Vazquez is a better comparison. He's obviously a better fighter than Gatti was, but he has been in those crazy wars where he has come back to beat his opponent. The Marquez fights would be like the Ward fights, the Larios trilogy was there, the Gonzalez fight being like the Wilson Rodriguez situation.
Both guys could be hurt, but both are/were brutal to try and finish off and were probably more dangerous when hurt.Comment
