  • Kelly Pavlik is Ready For a Hero's Return in Ohio

For Kelly 'The Ghost' Pavlik it's a new year, he'll be training in a new gym and he and trainer Jack Loew have a new outlook. [details]

Hopefully him and Abraham can continue making 160 for a year so they can get it on.

Pavlik should stay at 160 for as long as possible though because he seems to lose quite a bit of effectiveness above the weight.

Not a lot of people talking about this fight. I think it should be a war.

            Rubio vs. Pavlik?

            Rubio will be crushed.

it is a shame that those spouting off an easy Pavlik win doesn't know anything about Rubio. Rubio has the style and the movement to beat Pavlik.

Why is Kelly Pavlik only now starting training camp? Just 7 weeks before the fight? Thats a pretty week training camp considering that he has alot of improvements to make, and he is walking around at 175 lbs right now. Miguel Cotto started training in decemeber if I am correct. Fighters at this level should be running at least 2 and a half month training camps, anything else seems way too short.

I dont think Rubio will present a challange for Pavlik if the youngstown hero can safely make weight without killing himself, but what happens when Pavlik goes against a better skilled opponent? He better come in better shape and be learning new techniques if he wants a chance to win, especially if he is eventually going to move up in weight!

I guess we will see about that come fight night. I've admittedly only seen Rubio fight once and that was his last fight, he didn't look too impressive. But neither did Kelly in his last fight lol As I remember it was a slugfest, and I didn't see much movement from Rubio, could you explain his fighting style and suggest some fights to see examples of this?

Are you serious? He is ranked the best Mexican middleweight and internationally ranked eighth best. Rubio is a mandatory defense not some bum. Marco fought against Ornelas for the WBC Title Eliminator spot.
