I was looking up some stuff about guys winning titles after 18-20 fights and just realized Taylor fought and beat Hopkins in his 21st fight as a pro. That is ****ing insane. Hopkins had more title fights than Taylor had fights on that night. It can be argued that Taylor was still a green fighter in his 2 wins over Hopkins and draw with Wright, which is just mad. Is there any doubt he has the best resume in boxing other than Pacquiao? He hasn't even had 30 fights yet, and the only fight I thought he lost was the first to Pavlik. That 2nd fight was close and I thought Taylor won 7-8 rounds of it.
Jermain Taylor's resume

And can you believe JT is a DiBella fighter? Good thing DiBella didn't get Jermain until just before the Hopkins fights... if DiBella had been there from the beginning, he'd be 48-0, still working towards a title fight. DiBella is notorious for overprotecting his up-and-comers. He is America's Frank Warren. Can you believe that Berto has been a champion for almost a year now and we are STILL waiting for him to prove himself against an elite?I was looking up some stuff about guys winning titles after 18-20 fights and just realized Taylor fought and beat Hopkins in his 21st fight as a pro. You're right... but 39-2 under the DiBella plan doesn't look any better than 22-2 under an Arum career path. I don't know and I'm too lazy to research it... but I bet those brighter lights stay on top just as long as those smoldering embers. If you capture a title in your 21st pro fight and defend it 4 times before a loss... your no worse than the guy who captures a title at your 30th pro fight and defends it 4 times before a loss.
In fact, you're probably better off having not gone through grueling training camps for so many unnecessary fights.Comment

I belive there was a thread were we compared Taylor's resume to Calzaghes....His resume is very impressive considering his only two losses are too Kelly Pavlik....LeftyI was looking up some stuff about guys winning titles after 18-20 fights and just realized Taylor fought and beat Hopkins in his 21st fight as a pro. Taylor has alot of fights people forget about. Its also underated, because one of the knocks on Jermaine was the fact he fought smaller men.
Still its pretty impressive
1 & 2. Hopkins x2 (They were close fights and maybe he didnt win both, but the fact that he competed so closely so early, Hopkins was younger for these than when he beat Tarver, came close to beating Calzaghe, and pasted Pavlik)
3. Cory Spinks (People complain about this one, because Spinks was smaller and a light hitter, and Taylor looked pretty bad in this fight..... but at the time of the fight Spinks was considered the undisputed #1 man at 154)
4. Jeff Lacy (Was top 10 level at 168 before Taylor fought him, and Taylor was completely dominant, and this was his first fight at 168)
5. Raul Marquez (People downgrade this because they considered Marquez to be in semi-retirement, because he had already started his commentary gig. Since though Marquez has made a respectable comeback)
6. Kassim Ouma (Some of the luster has come off this win since, because Kassim has faded fast, but at the time of the fight he was considered to be a top 3 fighter at 154)
7. Alex Bunema (Solid fighter, and the win looks better now because Bunema has notched some good wins since then)
8. William Joppy (Was already starting to fade when Taylor got to him, but was still a fringe top 10 Middleweight)
9. Grady Brewer (Some people probably didnt realise Taylor beat Brewer early on, because at the time Brewer was just seen as a gatekeeper type, but he has since upset many up and comers and won The Contender)
10. Sam Hill (Hill was just a year removed from upsetting David Reid)
Throw in the fact that he was willing to step in with the likes of Winky Wright, and Kelly Pavlic (x2) and hell yeah he has a sold resume.Comment
