Klitschko will win people over

Wladimir Klitschko will eventually get the respect he deserves if he keeps winning. It was the same way for Lennox Lewis, who had the big knockout loss to Oliver McCall, and was a European so North American media wanted to say this and that about his. Haha, I remember Ring Magazine's cover headline before his fight with Michael Grant "Lewis will quit or will get knocked out".
People will drone on and on about how bad the heavyweight division is for a long time, and then eventually realize that we have a pretty good heavyweight champion. There is a 6'5" European winning all his fights and holding some of the heavyweight belts. He is a former olympic gold medallist and is said to have a suspect chin, but a really big straight right hand. Trained by Emmanuel Steward. Does this sound familiar to anybody?
It just takes time to win people over. The problem is right now every Klitschko victory, the first thing that is going to come up is how bad his opponent was and how bad the heavyweight division is.
Thing with Wlad is i think people (i know i do) actually WANT to like him, he just needs a bit more devil in himComment

yeah, I immediately regretted bringing race into the discussion right after I posted that actually, so I apologize to everyone. I just have a feeling he might be perceived differently if he looked like the rest of America's top athletes. Once again, I don't really want to steer the discussion in that direction so I apologize.Comment

Once again, I can draw on Lennox Lewis comparisons. Particularly after his fight with Tua, but in some other fights as well. A lot of people said he should have taken Holyfield out in their first fight. Eventually people will realize that the guy needs to get credit for winning.Comment

They did the same thing with Lewis, so it normally takes for a great fighter to retire for a while in order for him to get the respect he deserves. What Wladimir lacks though is the opposition that Lewis had, so that could cost him as far as being match against other great heavyweight, but he will be considered great if he keeps being dominant.Comment
