This has to be one of the best pieces I've ever read not only describing the "sweet science" but explaining Mayweather's timing.
Leave it to the pathetic haters(get a life) to actually bring CHEATArito into the fold of this discussion. Whatever there. This article went over their heads anyways because the CheatRito fans not only can't relate with this but don't understand it.
The guy who author this is pretty well round/sound/knowledgeable guy also.Comment

boxing is a unforgiving sport.
and boxers always fall into the trap of leaving when it is 2 late.
Roy Jones
Jose Castillo
Sugar Ray Leonard
Ali
Great Fighters fight 2 become the best.
And Once they become the best, the goal should be 2 leave that way.
Floyd was considered the best fighter in the world for 3 years Straight. and He was probably the greatest superfeather weight of all time. A division in which 27 of his 39 Fights took place.
There is no way to get around this fact.
Nobody in this Era is better than pbf
Accolades are accolades, but the fights are what we remember the most and bottom line is Floyd hasn't taken that chance while on top where it counts the most. Don't misconstrue hate for what actually is.Comment

If you think about it, if it wasn't for Floyd's fans making this big of a deal out of him, there wouldn't be anything about Floyd worth commenting on lmao
Now I honestly don't see what's so great about Floyd. I see his skill, quick pot shots, and great feet. But other then that (which won't get you out of every fight), I don't see a fraction of a reason for all the constant praise of him "being the greatest." lol I just don't. I mean Floyd can get tagged behind that shoulder D. That D never looks as good against skilled pressure fighters, or fast hands. lol He ran from Baldomir all night, in what was a waist of my money (lol still can't believe I bought that ****). He didn't look that great in that fight. Those single pot shots just bounced off Baldomir like they were g****s being thrown against a rhino. And he looked fairly average in the fight with Judah and Oscar. I liked how he adjusted later in the Judah fight, but how much can that be contributed to Judah who can't fight the second half of a fight? In the Oscar fight, I had that even through 10 rounds. Only part of that fight I remember Floyd lookin good was like a 10 second span where he went head-body with one punch at a time lol. I really don't see what's so great about Floyd other then what we've seen. He had crazy speed and footwork, no question. But thinkin of him as unbeatable and all that? lol I really don't see it...
To this day I think Cotto would have made that shoulder D as one giant target and would just turn that body into ground beef. Floyd would be moving like he's never moved before after the first 2 rounds. If there was ever a fight to be made in Mayweathers career, it was a fight with Cotto years ago. It never happened, and the more you think about it now, it actually makes perfect sense. It was a fight Floyd wanted no part of. Not even after Cotto got past Judah and Mosley, Floyd still showed no interest what so ever lol. Floyd left and boxing, and it actually got interesting. We've been seein the best square off against eachother since...
I don't know though, I think Floyd fans need to remind themselves that he's great just for the sake of it I guess. lol Cause I don't think anyone else cares that much, let alone agrees. Outside of Floyd callin himself the greatest, lol only his die hard fans believe him. I just can't believe that even after he's left the sport they're still tryin to convince people of his greatness. lol Dudes sound desperate to get that point across. I mean talk about beatin a dead horse..Comment

I've come to realize that a great amount of Floyd's fans have to grasp hold of his accolades prior to him making it to the top of the sport because that's all they can do. Whether its him not being a "real" Welterweight or him fighting most of his career at 130, etc there's always some type of scape goat for him not fighting any of the top fighter in their prime. That's what champions are made of, fighting and beating the very best while you're the one holding the torch.
I've had conversations with many people in the sport from NY, LA, FL, etc (trainers, fighters, writers, etc) several times about Floyd and truthfully the majority of those people agree like most of us do. One fighter I spoke with (who's name I won't mention here) said something to me that really hit it on the head, "Floyd is like your average politician, he and his team's job is to create this aura that will gravitate people towards him and give fans and the general public a false sense of reality in order to legitimize his position as the #1 without having to take out another #1".Comment

The problem with your theory and almost physical love regarding Floyd, is that he dodged fighting the other greats in his era. With the notable exception of DeLaHoya (who was past his prime, I might add), Floyd hasn't really tested his great talent. This is why he has so many detractors who have grown cynical towards Mayweather and what he represents in the sport of boxing. A sad waste.Comment
