For everyone who has a problem with Paul Williams and Antonio Margarito at WW...

Let's hear your alternative. Are you really going to make height/reach restrictions as well for weight classes?

So that leaves only two options:

    1. A fighter who is bigger than any criteria can't fight in a weight class, IE too long of arms for Williams and too tall for Margarito, so you force them to fight a couple of weight classes up, and who gives a **** that they are going to lose, because they are not built for combat in higher weight classes? Sounds dumb. Additionally, doesn't that just make the championships of the lower divisions hollow because everyone knows that those guys would win if they were able to fight in that division?

    OR

    2. You take permutations and have multiple WW divisions... WW for short people with small arms at 147, and WW for everyone who can make 147 if they wish. Yeah, and you all ***** about there being too many weight classes as it is.

So really, what is your argument here? What alternative do you have that is better than the way the status quo is right now? I'm listening...

How about they just fight at thier natural weight class instead?

I wouldn't mind if they where tall skinny guys like Hearns but Marg and Pwill are huge build wise aswell, if you watched PWill vs Phillips Pwill was a head taller and a hand wider than a natural LMW.

But hey if they are able to sweat down to make weight so be it but just don't make them out to be anything but boiled down higher weight fighters, Especially marg who rely's on the fact he piles on the pounds after the weigh in to bully smaller fighters.

I believe he's 160+ on fight night if memory serves.

I just think some guys are able to drop weight easier than others, it's been like that for the entire history of the sport, no need to change it, hell if you did i would have to find something else to complain about.

Marg could easily fill in 160 pounds....

Hes never won a fight past 147....

Williams can go to 154 and 160 and has won bouts there....thats why Marg stays at WW.

        Why bother? Seriously.

Just reading some of the early responses I'm left shaking my head. I wish you a patient mind and strong fingers. God's speed.

How do you know? Marg is the same size as Dela and he couldnt 'easily' fill in at 160.

Also, Marg has won fights over the WW limit.

but with no names. for example efrain munoz. do you even know who he is?? and a record of 0 and 10.
buck smith with a record of 179 and 12. dats a good record but i bet you he is not in his prime.

i think if he make the weight is more competitive to other fighters. margo is good but he is just a welter weight. he is never going to move up or anything

Hey... if they can make the weight, I have no problem with it. If James Toney could make WW, let him fight there. Now, thats an extreme, as James looks like a black Michelan Man.

So he finaly fights a 'name'..if you wanna call Verno a 'name'..and the guy is not elite.
