Tommy Morrison's Proposed Fight Causing Controversy

A proposed fight that involves former heavyweight champion Tommy Morrison is causing a storm of controversy in Melbourne, Australia. There is a plan to have Morrison face Australian heavyweight champ John Hopoate at some point in the later part of 2009. The fight is going to be part of a pay-per-view event in the country. How hard can it be to solve this HIV thing once and for all?

Honestly, If I were Tommy Morrison and had NOTHING to hide. I would hire a cheap film crew and have them document every step of the testing process and release that stuff worldwide. False positives.... RARE but its plausible... he wouldn't be the first.... a false positive AND his extreme unwillingness to undergo testing for over a decade (when he has been tested, its always been on his terms)... leads me to one conclusion... this guy has AIDS and the medication has done its job... lowered the virus count to the point that it can't be detected by a test... that is MUCH more common than a false positive. Magic Johnson was in the same boat, regular medication caused the virus to all but disappear... in 2001 he got off his medication and within 3 months the virus had shot back up in his blood stream.

WOW i didnt know that about magic, maybe he tought the virus had disappear from his body.. and after 3 months he didnt get sick????

i think they should let morrison fight as long as they put some speacial rules, if he gets cut they should stop the fight inmediatly.. besides that if the other guy wants to fight him let them fight...

me personally i wouldnt fight morrison... but it takes 2 to make a fight, is not like he is forcing somebody to fight him

I'm not sure if Magic got sick or not... I just know that he went in for a blood test after getting off the meds... at the time, they thought perhaps the meds had killed the virus completely. Turns out, as soon as he got off the meds, the virus began to multiply very rapidly. He never mentioned if he got sick or not. I don't think HIV makes you sick, it think it just leaves you open to get sick from anything and everything around you... but who knows?

First off the HIV virus is what causes AIDS and just because you have the virus does not mean you have AIDS. And as far as I know Tommy has never been diagnosed with AIDS. With that being said, I don't see how any civilized country would let Tommy fight. Because it is not only the safety of the other fighter that has be considered it is also the corner men the ref and I know I have been hit with a few drops of blood sitting ring side at club shows in my time. But aside from the AIDS issue Tommy's last two opponents had seven wins between them and I have to ask way the hell would anyone ever want to see Tommy fight again? I just understand why these guys have such a hard time going out and getting a real job.
