Why don't they fill up big stadiums?

Why, when a fight is held in a basketball arena, they don't open up the upper deck? I think they should price the tickets to sell out the place easily. I would think even if the cheap seats are like $25 you can easily sell out the entire Staples Center for the Mosley-Margarito fight. Same with the Taylor-Lacy fight a while back at Vanderbilt. The upper deck was closed. Why not make those extremely cheap and the venue would make more money off of concessions and what not.

Because no one would buy them anyways. Seats at the Home Depot center are literally cheaper then most of the menu at Starbucks but people just dont buy tickets like that. Promoters give away thousands of free tickets when the upper deck isnt open, they sure as hell aignt gonna open up just to give away more seats. Thats why casinos are dominating right now because they offer promoters more money then stadiums to hold a fight and they have much less seats so its easier and quicker to get a sell out and look good on paper

I think it takes away from the prestige of the event, you know it's a special event when the least expensive ticket price is $150 to $200. The upper deck rarely sells out, meaning there would empty seats visible, which would affect the atmosphere. Though, the actual reason why they probably don't is because of the cost of extra security, ushers, concession and maintenance. I'm sure they've calculated this, and deemed it wasn't profitable.

Probably. It's sad really, with low prices like that you could even get 'average' families going a lot more, and getting a lot more people interested in the sport as a live event rather than just television. And while more people may not necessarily mean a better atmosphere a full arena rather than a half empty one always does.

I agree; Vegas is my least favourite boxing destination. It makes me sad.
