IBF super middleweight champ Lucian Bute is almost on for a voluntatary defence against Dane Mads Larsen with date and site to be determined. No contracts are signed yet and surprisingly the final hurdle to make the fight happening appears to be Larsen. Chris Meyer, Sauerlandīs CEO, tells sporten.dk in Denmark that Bute have accepted to fight Mads but that Larsen is still asking for too much money. Meyer then says time is running out. One of the things that makes it a rush could be the purse bids January 6 for an IBF eliminator between Librado Andrade and another Sauerland fighter, Vitaly Tsypko of Ukraine. Should Larsen not accept the conditions to fight Bute itīs difficult to see Tsypko doing the same as he then avoids a dangerous eliminator and can go directly to a world title fight. [details]

Larsen has left it all in the hands of his agent who's unknown
Sauerland also said that Larsen is one of their top-fighters and that it's an ongoing negotiation. He added that everybody wants the best possible deal.
Personally I'll be utterly dissapointed if Larsen prices himself out of this fight. He made a comeback with the sole purpose of getting a title. Now he stands at the brink of this opportunity with the prospect of facing a wounded champion. He'll never get a better shot at a title as an all-danish clash with Mikkel Kessler only seems a distant probabillity.
Add to that that the venue haven't been decided and there is a very real chance that the fight will go on in Larsen's hometown of Aarhus, Denmark.
Don't be a fool Mads! Sign this fight.Comment

I just noticed both of the top Danes have turned their backs on Denmark.
Kessler lives in Monaco where he drinks champagne eats bon bons and plays baccarat while Larsen lives in Berlin, where he drinks beer, eats sausage and sauerkraut and takes fights with kickboxers.

Yeah right. Larsen has fled because of a contract dispute with Mogens Palle and Kessler has gone south probably to avoid the harsh danish income tax (at about 60% for those who earn a lot).Comment
