Yuriorkis Gamboa, Solis on 1/9, Joey Gilbert Opens Camp

Yuriorkis Gamboa and Odlanier Solis are ready to shine at the season premiere of ESPN’s “Friday Night Fights” next week (January 9th) at Terrible’s Primm Valley Casino Resorts. The 2004 Olympic gold medallists had no spare time over Christmas or New Year’s but have been working hard at their training camp in Primm, Nevada. [details]

Gamboa is going to shine this year. I see it already. He's bound to get a title soon.. Its coming.... This year.

A lot of people want to watch him fail, but he won't. Even with his chin showing, he has heart. That will take him far!

I hope Angulo knocks out Mayorga in a convincing fashion. I hope he don't fight like weak Berto fought against Forbes. When millions were watching this dude fought very soft and played it safe. I'm sure Angulo's gonna shine.

I like Gamboa and think the kid is exciting and skilled but that chin of his won't hold up in the big leagues, he is overhyped. But the sad part is that it looks like a soft chin may be his only downfall.

I don't think Gamboa's chin is that bad, but it definitely isn't granite. He has the immense talent to become a great fighter, but he needs to learn from the mistakes he has already made. His defense is leaky put hopefully they patched it up somewhat by now.

He is an awesome fighter to watch, he has all the tools to be a champion but his chin will let him down when he steps up to a big test.
