Why do so many people dislike Naseem Hamed

Why do so many people dislike Naseem Hamed particularly American fans ? sure Hamed was not everyones cup of tea, but the excitement and flair, devastating knockouts he brought was unrivaled. To listen to some haters talk about Hamed you would think he is still active today, because their bitterness towards him even too this day leaves you with that impression. Another thing why do people act like he never did anything? the guy beat.

    Tom Johnson
    Kevin Kelly
    Manuel Medina
    Wayne McCullough
    Wilfredo Vazquez
    Paul Ingle
    Vuyani Bungu
    Steve Robinson

Now i know some of those fighters might have seen better days, but they were still good fighters. I have no problem if you think Hamed was overrated, because i too believe he was overrated, but the nonsensical arguments people come out with about him are just hate filled rants with no logic to them. They say he beat nobody and ducked the best fighters, yet he fought everyone in the FW divison available at the time which is all you can do. If Hamed didn't beat the best fighters in his divison and he fought nobodys then, why would people of ranked him the best FW in the world and even made him favourite to beat Barrera? Exactly that my point there is no logic to the haters arguments. I think Hamed was ranked #7 p4p around about 1997 and 1998.

I hear Frank Warren offered Azumah Nelson over a 1.2 mil pounds to fight Hamed, but he signed a 3 fight deal with top rank and got paid 300 thousand dollars for his next fight.

The small matter of his fights must come into it surely? His insane KO power? His ability to get knocked down while looking like a spastic acrobat before getting back up and sparking the other guy smooth the fuck out?

          Hamed was unique.

I was surely entertained by his fighting style. He was indeed unique. Gotta say though, i was happy as hell watching his ass get handed to him by Barrera! LOL. Aside from his entertaining style, he came off as a prick. Floyd should pick up some tips from Hamed. If you're gonna act like a total prick outside the ring, at least be entertaining IN the ring.

People dislike him for obvious reasons.

Maybe the question is how can anyone deny he was great to watch. Love him or hate him, he was like the bastard child of Gatti, Mayweather and Camacho. (that would explain the ugliness!!).

His claim to be so great and the big splash he made when he was fighting, combined with his good but not great opposition and being beaten soundly by Barrera, then running off with all his money makes people feel like he was all mouth and shouldnt be given the respect he actually deserves.
