He fought him, he beat him, Vitali's face looked like it had been through a blender.

Lewis was 38 and had nothing left to prove.

It wasnt Vitali himself, it was simply the deterioration that made him retire. Lewis is a smart man and when he saw it was harder to stay away from the fatty foods, he saw himself more plump in the mirror, the reflexs were slowing,, the breaths were heavier, he knew it was time to hang em up especially with no competition and all the money he already made.

It could have been anyone in there against Lewis in the Vitali fight, he would have looked terrible regardless cuz he was simply losing it, it just so happened Vitali was his opponent so it looked like he was avoiding Vitali.

The only man who can answer that is Lewis.

You just reopened a ****** war, just hope that this thread winds up on page 3 or 4 on this section before the usual suspects get a chance to read this......

of course he did....why else would he wait until vitali beat fat kirk johnson who was supposed to be lewis original opponent to retire....he knew it was hard for him to beat vitali twice....of course he had nothing else to prove since he had beat every opponent and didnt care as much but you have to be a fool to think that vitali as the opponent had nothing to do with it

It was a combination of other things as well, but that was his primary reason.

I respect him for knowing when to quit, and the Tyson fight alone made him richer than most people will get in their lives.

Lol so funny to see the insecure Lewis fans always resort to the old Lewis argument of "LOOK AT THE STATE OF HIS FACE" and Larry Merchant asks Lewis do you give him credit? Lewis answer "LOOK AT THE STATE OF HIS FACE", Lewis you realize he was beating you on all scorecards and looked the fresher of the two, Lewis answers "LOOK AT THE STATE OF HIS FACE".

Its like Lewis and the rest of his deluded fans have nothing else to go on in that fight other than "LOOK AT THE STATE OF HIS FACE"

But the bottom line is, cuts and injuries happen, and if the opponent is clearly winning and loses because of the cut, it is only fair to give that opponent a rematch, certainly after you manage to make a promise that you would.
