Floyd was playing it as safe as possible. For the entire first half of the fight, he was content with just throwing 1 lead right hand whenever Ricky got close, then clinching. Even Roger was instructing Floyd to just "pot shot that mofo". It wasnt till Ricky became frustrated and got sloppy, that Floyd decided to capatolize and open up. It was a wrap after that.

Mayweather dominated from round one and on. People use Hatton frustration as a excuse for him losing the fight.

Well, Floyd looked relieved after he beat the crap out of Gatti, too.

Isn't it impossible to appear physically relaxed against the style Hatton brings? When a fighter is relentlessly closing the distance and leaning on you, basing his whole offence on trying to maul the **** out of you?

Floyd looked composed as all get out on his ring entrance, no sign of nerves whatsoever. But however composed you are, when faced with a style like Hatton's, you're going to need to get your hands dirty to win. And it's hard to look slick and cool at all times doing that. His corner's job is to keep reassuring and reminding him between rounds. I don't take any of that as a sign that Floyd was inordinately anxious in the fight --- this is a fight, after all --- or was in doubt at any point during it. He looked calmer against Hatton than any opponent of Ricky's ever has, and especially calm and relaxed in the manner he kept landing the straight right lead.

Ricky, on the other hand, appeared to be ****ting bricks on his ring entrance.

Yeah and the reason for that imo is the same reason he wont face a legit WW, because he does not have as much confidence as he likes to make out.

Floyd looked nervous its that simple whether its to be expected facing a guy like Hatton, bottom line he looked a fought nervous for the 1st few rounds, because he was nervous.

Hatton did not look like he was"****ting bricks on his ring entrance" he looked mean and like he wanted to put some hurt on Mayweather.

Watch the footage of Mick Williamson applying the salve to Hatton's eyes. The weight of the occasion is clearly, and very, visible in Ricky's face.

He looked quite perceptibly inhibited during the entrance and immediately before the fight. Even Jim Watt, Hatton's biggest ballhanger on the night, remarked upon it.

Floyd looked cold, dispassionate, ready to go.

But you can see what you want to see. Floyd was crapping in his furry trunks through rounds 1-4. Ricky's demeanour never at any point before the fight resembled that of a man experiencing bigtime nerves and doubt. Cool.

What ever!! you have no clue son. Carry on hugging Floyd's balls and closing your eyes to the blatently obvious.

He consistently landed at will but he never followed up, I think because he was cooking Ricky Hatton so he could knock him out like the way he did. I think he also coasted in the De la Hoya fight too, to an extent because look how many times he hurt DLH bad but stayed back. If you look at other fights he always follows up and knows when to follow up on his shots....like for example, Mitchell, Gatti, Corrales, etc...

Maybe his corner were relaxed because they had paid Cortez off?

That could be why...they paid off the ring construction post people too, that ring post should never have been there.

If you look at Floyd, he almost looked like he wanted to laugh during the ring entrance. During the fight, he looked like his style was effortless....and it was, he used Hatton's agression against him to knock him out

Oh, would that the fates had blessed me with a keyboard, a textbox, a peabrain and the English skills of a 14 year old with learning difficulties, I, too, could have been a wise, informed and perceptive, wifebeater-clad, Nuts-subscribing, fully paid-up boxingscene pundit like your venerable self.
