I remember reading a story about kids playing backyard baseball as the sun was setting... they didn't realize it was too dark to continue until they took a 5 minute waterbreak inside where they were "in the light". Stepping out from the light made them realize "Damn its dark out here, we'll continue tomorrow" I think boxers fade gradually... but when you're fighting once or twice a year, there is SUCH a disperity between performances that it makes the delcine much more obvious than if they were fighting every 3 1/2 to 4 months.
