JCC probably boxed more rounds not being technically an "amateur" then most guys that were amateurs.
He's had 45 pro fights. He gets no more passes from me.
It's not just the rounds it's the years of practice, sparring and training that you get out of it. When you are an amature yes you fight less rounds but most amature fighter start in their early teens and don't get thrown in with full grown pros till they are in their mid 20's.

What are you gonna tell me Amature fighters don't train for years before actually getting into their first pro fight?

And he's 23 years old. Name all the top fighters in boxing right now and how many are his age or younger?

Ok, do you know what an amateur career is? And an amateur record?

Do you know what that means?

An amateur fight doesn't even have to be golden gloves or silver gloves or any sanctioned fight.

The requirements for a record are a guy getting in a ring, and them calling it a fight.
If you think Junior didn't fight at all for years, I don't know what to say, honestly.

Now if you compare the two one big diffrence is Vargas had a long amature career where Chavez JR had none. Seriously I would really like to hear some real reasons why the kid is a bad fighter?
I don't hate him. It is, however, kind of annoying that even though he seems to be not-ready-for-primetime in his selection of opponents he uses his daddy's name to get a bunch of PPVs. Wish he'd fight more on ESPN or Showbox or BAD or on the undercard of better PPVs.

Maybe because he's living in his fathers shadow. Maybe if they let him develop to true potential then people wouldn't shrug him off as daddys little boy.

              Actually...

Oscar De La Hoya was 23 when he took the super featherweight title from Chavez in the first fight. and he had already won the featherweight title before that.

And Juan Diaz was the unified lightweight champ at 23, he's now 24 years old and is the lightweight champ.

JCC JR is being overly protected and that might not be a good thing.
At this stage in hs career he has a chance at beating Oscar since Oscar doesn't seem to have anything left in him as a fighter.

Ugh he had very limited experience and never really had any Official Amature bouts if that makes you feel better.

The point i'm trying to make is that he never had the pedigree that a lot of other champions have had and he is still just 23 years old. Sanctioned or non sanctioned amature bouts aside the guy really didn't step into the ring till he was 17 and he was already fighting pro's. The only other fighter of note that did that (Antonio Margarito) didn't get his first title shot till he was 26 and he didn't get listed in the PFP rankings till he was 30. And Tony had lost against similar fighters while junior is still undeafeated at this stage of his career.

He's fighting fighters that are just as highly regarded as himself or he is fight gatekeepers who every eventual champion has to beat before he gets a title shot.

that being the case, then why is he headlining ppv's? Because of his daddy's name.

Maybe that's what people don't like.

                    Personally, I think he's ok.
                    Just no world beater.

Oscar also was a gold Medal winner as an amature and had already been fighting for close to 15 years when he beat chavez SR. And they fought at juniro welter and welterweight not super featherweight.

Juan Diaz also had a lengthy amature career I think but if he didn't then we are talking about one exception. Sure Junior has more fights then most prospects but the lack of any real amature background makes him just as developed as any other contender his age.
