Jean Marc Mormeck vs Guillermo Jones in march for WBA belt

Former 2 time world Cruiserweight champion Jean Marc Mormeck is to return to the ring in March against the current WBA cruiserweight champion Guillermo Jones. This will be Mormeck's first fight in 16months since losing his titles to current heavyweight contender David Haye. 36 Guillermo Jones will be making the first defense of his Cruiserweight title since capturing it agianst Firat Arslan in Germany earlier this year. Canal+ have been attempting to get Mormeck out of his hiatus for the last few months and are expected to pay Mormeck around 600,000 euros for this fight.

Jones will win this one by KO I think. He's a big puncher and Mormeck's defense may have slowed a bit due to the inactivity.

Its a difficult one to predict as we don't know how the layoff will have effected Mormeck, If he comes back strong i think he can win it by UD but he could be knocked out if he comes back slow and plodding, I will go for a very close UD for Jean but as i said its difficult to tell.

I had a look at Guillermo Jones last fight on youtube and he seems to have some power with hand speed he looks to be a solid fighter but i did notice one weakness he bends over really badly when he throws punches and has his chin way out, he will be vulnerable to Mormeck's good uppercuts if he can still throw them quickly, but again Mormeck stamina might be worse than it was before so it should be an interesting fight. I would like to see Mormeck win though as i think Adamek vs Mormeck would be a great clash off styles.

yeah, i'm some what surprised that mormeck isnt taking a tune up, either way, it's a exciting match up, i like both fighters, they bring action to the ring............

Mormeck and Jones sparred each other too before Mormeck fought Braithwaite so Jones should know how to fight Mormeck and vice versa but Mormeck is coming off a near 2 year layoff so I think it's a very dangerous fight for him.

Looking at him now, you would never believe Jones used to fight at 147.

Yeah is amazing to think he has grown so mch and not put on loads of fat. Momreck normally did well against taller fighters it will be interesting to see if he can still have the upper body movement he had.
