I think Haye uses the "I'll retire if I lose" and "I'll move to MMA" stuff just to motivate himself. He'd be silly to retire now in the middle of his prime, especially after losing to someone like Vitali. If he got blown out in the first round or something, I could see him taking a year or two off, fighting some tomato cans, maybe moving back down to CW. But no way he retires, he didn't after losing the last time.
Will Haye retire after he gets humuliated and KO'd by Vitali??

Maybe he hasn't done anything at HW yet but neither have any of the other HW contenders. At least Haye can point to being an undisputed champion. That would be dumb if he retired for losing to a fighter as good as Vitali, I think Haye would just go back down to cruiserweight. I don't even know why any of the klits are even fighting haye, when haye hasn't done **** in the heavy weight division. So, basically anyone from any other weight class can talk **** and move up to heavy-weight division and challenge the klits.Comment

Why didn't Haye fight Cunningham? Just curious. I'd be a lot more impressed by the "undisputed" title if he'd actually fought his biggest threat instead of running to HW and screaming for a title shot without earning it.Comment

Bell Mormeck had a fight in 06 for the undisputed cruiserweight championship. Bell won and as the fight was great they decided to have a rematch but the IBF stripped Bell for taking the fight. Mormeck beat Bell but for the WBC WBA and Ring belts he was thus considered the undisputed champ and everyone at the time had him as the no1 cruiserweight. Haye beat him then decided to move to heavyweight but instead took out local rival Enzo Macca, Meanwhile Cunningham had a fight for the vacant IBF title against Wlodarczyk which he lost then he won a MD over Wlodarczyk he wasn't considered the no1 Cruiserweight at any point and only gained this distinction after Haye moved up, this is no disrespect to Cunningham he is a skilled guy.Last edited by Davros?; 12-30-2008, 06:09 PM.Comment

You can argue the same point about any fighter who moves up in weight. He should have fought this guy, he was ducking that guy etc. Surely their comes a point where, if a fighter thinks he can achieve/earn more by choosing a different path then it's his right to chase after that. At the end of the day (trademark J.Calzaghe 2008), its not us getting smashed in the mouth for a living, so we haven't really got any place questioning him for a decisions none of us have been in a position to make.
I just want to see a credible HW division with exciting fights and if this is what it takes to stir it up a bit then I'm cool with that.Comment

Haye never fought the best cruiserweights. Mormeck was old, worn down and shot when he fought Haye.Bell Mormeck had a fight in 06 for the undisputed cruiserweight championship. You seem to be one of the minority(only) people who does not think Haye was undisputed CW champ, so by virtue of majority of other people thinking the opposite he was the Undisputed champ.Comment
