Imagine the numbers if PPV was around for Ali-Frazier, Leonard-Duran, Hagler Hearns, Cooney-Holmes, Joe Louis fights.
That will put into perspective what the numbers don't always tell.Comment

Boxing has to do what UFC is doing, and that's "catering to the fans" They give the fans the fights that must happen, and that the fans want to happen. There's no making excuses for not fighting another guy in UFC. If a fighter does, he is stripped!Comment

Yep. That's a major flaw with HBO and others today. They keep showing and promoting boxings seniors tour instead of creating the next generation of stars. There's plenty of talent although definetely not in abundance in America.Comment

How many gangsters are involved with UFC? Slim to none right?
How many gangsters are involved with Boxing? Organized crime and *****.
Hella right? Well, gangsters make the world go round. How can boxing possibly die with gangsters involved. Of course they don't have a stronghold like they did in the 50's, but believe me, they're still out there.Comment

But the Contender isn't going to bring boxing back. This year's weak.
They need to lower the weights in order to make it more exciting.Comment

UFC had 12 PPV's this year that means they have 1 card a month to put on the big fights, while HBOPPV had 8. Boxing doesn't need PPV like the UFC does since that is their main income provider. Boxing has HBO which had 20 no-ppv shows this year and SHO which had 24 non-ppv shows. If Boxing had the same structure that the UFC has they would have 12 PPV's a year and the once a month PPV cards would look like this.

If those were the PPV's boxing was putting on once a month do you think the numbers would even be close between boxing and the UFC???
Boxing fans are spoiled they get a card every weekend and most the time they are on Showtime and HBO. They don't have to wait once a month for a nice card, all they want to do is wish they could have to pay every single month 44.95 to watch quality fights.
PPV has been bad for the sport of Boxing, it has alienated many fans who can't be putting out that kind of money every month. I like the idea of having PPV's for only super fights and it looks like HBO is going to start doing that from now on.
Before the MMA fan boys come in here and say "BUT WE GET UFC ON ****E TOO" yeah well we get Boxing on ESPN2,Versus,Telemundo,Tv Azteca mostly every single weekend.Comment
