Guys you're missing the subtle clue of Oscar's business acumen.

He's looking to who to add to his growing stable of fighters. And the best way to find out if they're worthy of being a part of Golden Boy Promotions, is to fight them yourself.

He'll be in his seventies still fighting guys who he thinks are the future of boxing for his promo gig.

You see, "It's All Part Of The... Plaaan" $$$$.

No other promoter has ever attempted such a feat.

    At least that's my guess.

yall are so negative sometimes it disgusts me. This kind of a fight makes sense in every way.

-If De La Hoya fought any of the real top guys at 147 or 154, it would be a joke, because he hasnt beaten a top guy at those weights in forever. Plus, he would be getting in the way of the real matchups available there.
-People have been complaining about Chavez Jr. not steping it up for a while. Well, De La Hoya is certainly a big step up, isnt he?
-This fight would be huge in Mexico, especially if they fought in Azteca Stadium. Just pray it would be on Network TV or at least no PPV.
-Either outcome for this fight is good. Either De La Hoya could go out with a decent looking win on his record(which would be nice), or Chavez J. could make a huge jump in his career which would create some hype for future matchups.
-The story behind this is fun. Its as simple as Jr. wanting revenge for his father, and Chavez Sr was pretty much as downhill as Oscar is at this point. I think its pretty interesting.

I dont think much of Jr., but sometimes a fighter just needs a push or some extra motivation to make them a better fighter, and this would be the type of opportunity to do it. I think it would be a decent fight as well, De La Hoya's defence has been falling off for a while and Jr.'s defence was never good to begin with. It would be the type of fight that would probebly make them both look good.

and for those that say that they dont want this fight simply because they dont want Chavez Jr. to be hyped up(if he wins), just shut up. really. Yall act like hype is a bad thing, when all it does is add to the fights. Stop being such sticks in the mud.

          now back to my vacation.

This is bull****, first Oscar needs to retire. Second if he is going to fight he needs to give fights to the people that deserve a fight. There are fighters busting ass, for a whole career and dont get have the attetion that Jr gets, because of his father name. This is ridiculous, the guy is a bum and everybody knows it. There are guys like JMM, Cotto, Margarito,Williams, ect, ect,ct, who deserve a fight with Oscar. This is ****ing sad. If this fight happend I will be very dissopointed!!!!!!!!!!

Great post. Oscar has no business fighting the elites anymore cause it would be a joke and he would get his ass kicked. People shouldn't be complaining cause he's not impacting the welterweight or jr. middleweight divisions in any form. People wanted him gone and now he basically is gone when he's fighting the likes of JCC jr. Now oscar can beat the hell out of jr and shove the victory in his face and sr.'s face since they have always been disrespectful to him. I will say that this needs to be oscar's last fight though.

Cotto, Margarito, Williams? are you serious? these guys would roast De La Hoya over an open fire. I thought that before the Pacquiao fight, and I certainly aint changed my mind now. the boxing community would be up in arms over these mismatches. and rightly so.

Marquez already has business to take care of at Lightweight, hes fighting Juan Diaz. and good for him, I respect him for doing that an not just sitting there crying for a Pacquiao rematch. Marquez vs. De La Hoya is just an odd matchup, and the only real reason Marquez would want to take it is for the money...and no one likes that.

De La Hoya vs. Chavez Jr. makes perfect sense.
