Dawson's resume at light heavy is far better than Joe's, and if someone can't see that then they should look at both of their records at 175. I also like how people really pay attention to a ring belt( a magazine that De La Hoya owns) and not pay any attention to real organizations like WBC, IBF, ect. The only fighter that Bernard beat at light heavy was Tarver, and Dawson also just beat him, so explain how both Joe and Hopkins are ranked ahead of someone that has a better 175 record than both of them? Calzaghe beat the RECOGNISED best LHW which was Hopkins so that makes him the best. Hence the phrase "to be the best you have to beat the best." The Tarver that Dawson beat was nothing more than a washed up has been. That win is about as relevant as Calzaghe's over Jones. Means **** all in other words. What it all boils down to is Calzaghe's win against B-Hop and Dawson's "win" against Johnson. Calzaghe's win trumps Dawson's all day long. It's not only the Ring have BOTH Joe and B-Hop ranked above Dawson, it's every credible boxing website. Facts don't lie.

He needs to fight this guy..AT this point in his career he isn't worried about money, he's made more than enough to be content he is not exactly in Tysons shoes, its about pride..If he turns down Dawson and retires using the money excuse its bull****..He has not jumped up enough weight classes to dodge the one and only guy the entire world wants him to beat to seal the deal..The decision should have been made by now so I say find a pair of balls screw em on fight the kid take ur lumps or take ur W if this sport is dying the way he claims, do that and help revive it..

Dawson hasn't exactly got an iron chin, he's been down a few times and hurt badly. And Hopkins is far from washed up, he's 4th on the P4P list. People look at his age and assume he's washed up, the man is one of the most physically disciplined fighters to ever grace the sport. He never drank, smoked, eats organic foods, is always training, etc. The man is a freak of nature, he's easily one of the best conditioned 40+yo fighers of all time. His body is in it's 30's. Don't forgot Calzaghe is 37, he's not exactly a spring chick either. Now Jones, he's shot no doubt about that. He's been washed up for years, Calzaghe's win over him doesn't mean much.

There is a big difference in punchers that Calzaghe fought at 175 and the punchers that Dawson fought. Joe fought two former middleweight, Dawson fought natural light heavyweights with power like Adamek, Johnson and Tarver. If Joe was tagged the amount of times that Dawson was against Johnson, would he have not been hurt? Don't let anyone fool you, Johnson can punch.

Calzaghe is the man to beat at 175, not Dawson. Don't kid yourself man. Calzaghe's Ring belt means a hell of a lot more than Dawson's alphabet titles. These are facts. Calzaghe has had retirement planned since last year, Dawson is a good fighter but he's done nothing to prove he's better than either Calzaghe or Hopkins. At the minute he's ranked behind them and rightly so. He's unfortunate that he's now becoming relevant when Calzaghe and B-Hop have one foot in retirement. You know Calzaghe's hands are totally fragile now though, right? He has been plagued with injuries since the age of 14. It's not surprising that he doesn't stop or KO people nowadays. The punch that cut Jones in round 7 broke his left hand.

Actually, that fight should have been stopped. Roy was way behind on the cards and from maybe round 9 onwards I was hoping the ref would stop it. So if Jones did get stopped, Joe would have gotten a TKO.

Dawson's chin isn't as good as you think. In my opinion, if he fights Johnson again, he will get knocked out.
