i think joe is going to retire. he had a great career, and while i would like to see him fight a couple more times i don't blame him for getting out on top. he earned it. like him or not!

    OK, thanks.

    EDIT: It's all here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._title_holders

He held it from October 97 (Eubank fight) until June 2008.

The Ring belt is the most respected title in boxing. Fact. This isn't even up for debate, it should be common knowledge. Dawson's resume at LHW is far better than Calzaghe's? That's laughable. Calzaghe beat the RECOGNISED best LHW which was Hopkins so that makes him the best. Hence the phrase "to be the best you have to beat the best." The Tarver that Dawson beat was nothing more than a washed up has been. That win is about as relevant as Calzaghe's over Jones. Means **** all in other words. What it all boils down to is Calzaghe's win against B-Hop and Dawson's "win" against Johnson. Calzaghe's win trumps Dawson's all day long. It's not only the Ring have BOTH Joe and B-Hop ranked above Dawson, it's every credible boxing website. Facts don't lie.
Alphabets belts are from over 30 years ago, so if you want to act like they are not significant than good luck on that, because i know the truth. Duran, Leonard and Hearns were known as legit champions when they had them, and now Dawson isn't because he doesn't have a ''ring'' belt( lol). Oh and the Tarver that fought Dawson was just a has been? Tarver just beat Woods( who was a top 5 light heavyweight at the time who beat a lot of top 10 light heavy's) and had two titles. Jones had not won a significant fight since the early 2000's. I can't see how the version that fought Hopkins was any better. Many people even believe he was weight drained from coming down in weight after making ''Rocky 5''. What did Joe do at light heavyweight to equal Harding, Johnson, Adamek and Tarver? Beat Hopkins and Jones? Adamek was in his prime, and he even went up to cruiser weight and won a title. Not to diss Joe or anything, but does he even have a young champion on his resume that is accomplished or Dawson or Adamek?

Yeah, that's what I think aswell. He could stay at weight so long because of the way he treated his body.

If Joe was tagged the amount of times that Dawson was against Johnson, would he have not been hurt? Don't let anyone fool you, Johnson can punch.
You're just embarrassing yourself now. Johnson is strong but he's not known as a big puncher. He had Dawson is trouble big time. The main thing here is Calzaghe wouldn't get tagged the amount of times Dawson did so your point is moot. . Adamek was having problems with weight and moved up instantly to CW, Johnson has been robbed a few times so his record is better than it suggests but he's still been beat SEVERAL times and many people think he beat Dawson. Tarver was washed up.

Hopkins first fight was at LHW, he's certainly no natural MW even though that's were he spent most of his career. Any knowledgable boxing fan will tell you that. He'd fought there for a couple of years prior to the Calzaghe fight while it was Calzaghe's first fight at the weight. You're bringing hating to a new level here.

OK Cool. If we're getting into this, then you can include Jones as a bull****ter. He would not fight Michalczewski for less than 25 million, knowing very well that the fight would never happen because of his ridiculously high demands.

We can also include Hopkins. As you know, he turned down the Calzaghe fight in 2002 because he decided he wanted 6 million instead of the already agreed-upon 3 million. Then he earned 1.25 million fighting Hakkar.

And if you take anything Frank Warren says seriously, Jones always priced himself out of a fight with Calzaghe.

There you go. All fighters are ducking each other using money as an excuse.
