Joe Calzaghe: Final Options For The Italian Dragon

In the next two weeks, Joe Calzaghe (46-0, 32KOs) is expected to make an important announcement about the path of his career. Joe will let the world know if he plans to continue fighting. Last we heard Calzaghe was leaning in the direction of retirement. There are still a lot of fighters calling him out from multiple weight divisions. If Calzaghe decides to stick around in the sport, he's going to try and land the most lucrative option. [details]

Dawson - won't be enuf $ in it for him to take it
Kessler - already beat his ass clearly enuf that a rematch ain't necessary
Hopkins - won't rematch him, and won't be much demand for it cuz it was dull
AA - won't happen cuz he ain't gonna go to 175 and Joe won't go back to 168
Froch - won't be enuf $ in this either

I'm pretty sure Joe C is done.

I agree. This is the same reason I feel Hopkins is done too....Winky as well for that matter. There just isn't that incentive for them to fight anymore

They forgot about Glen Johnson. There's money, there's HBO and there's challenge for both of them.

Personally, I hope he'll take on Chad Dawson, to please boxing fans. **** the money. Think about the resume boost and the fan admiration!

        Edit:

I really feel like Calzaghe should do this, because no matter what we say, America, will always say, that Calzaghe could have proven himself one last time, against this new guy called Chad Dawson. This perfect resume, has one flaw. He needs Chad, America needs Chad, the rest of us, we wont go anywhere without Chad - But you have to admit, iiiiiif he takes Chad - And wins, even you have to respect him, America.

Well, I can't blame him for going out on top. I got a lot of respect for Joe. It would be a even bigger boost in my opinion of him if he chose to fight a young lion like Dawson, win or lose. But as others have said, maybe the money isn't up to snuff.
Really, the only fight I can see being made is a rematch with B-Hop. It just makes the most sense in my eye's.

Fight Chad Dawson or give Hopkins a rematch.

I dont really care. If he wants money, that's his choice, but if there ever as a boxer who had no right to play the "Legend" card it's Calzaghe.

Never went Prime v Prime against Excellent Boxers such as RJJ and Hopkins who were in their Prime in their era.

It's pathetic the only decent guy Calzaghe went Prime v Prime with was Kessler, possibly Lacy, though he was relativley green and anyone with any knowledg about boxing felt Lacy was going to get KO'd anyway.

Calzaghe has never been the underdog, which says alot.

You know what, just retire, you're a let down
