I guess I know how Ruby Roberts fans felt 100 years ago
Not quite the same as Fitz...Holy was, in any other era without Cruiserweight, a career Heavyweight. Not a huge one but career nonetheless.

true. but in 10 yrs people will say the same about david haye and bell. they had to make ONLY 200. no matter. I think we both agree that the best of yesterday were all studs. I mean, a guy like Gem Mace could out drink and KO a slick southpaw like Moorer tonight if he had too

Holyfield is no worse than a top-6 all-time HW. I would rate him at 4, above Holmes and Foreman. Holmes fought in a terrible era. Big George is another story. But Holyfield would have been a great HW in any era. He fought people when they were in their primes and won. He had modest power but GREAT boxing skills and the ultimate chin. And his will to win is second to none. I loved the fact that he would not just take a beating or accept a loss, he would always fire back and make a fight of it. 1) Louis 2) Ali 3) Johnson 4) Foreman 5) Holyfield 6) Holmes

I could get all Bert Sugar on you and talk about the Dempseys and Jack Johnsons, and they were maybe as good as Evander for there time. and thats how it should be measured but Real Deal is still way up there
How have you got Holy above Lewis and Holmes ?

I would rate Holyfield above both. Holmes fought in a terrible HW era, so Holy gets rated above him due to level of competition. Those tough fighters that Lennox beat, had already been KTFO by Holyfield. And in their primes, Holyfield would have killed Lennox.
