Morales has Pacquiao as Possible February Opponent

    11/08/04 - La Opinion

WBC SuperFeather Champ Erik Morales mentioned that is contemplating putting his belt on the line against Manny Pacquiao on the 12th of February in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The pugilist continues his preparation at the Otomi Ceremonial Center in Temoaya, Mexico for the fight he will have the 27th of November against Marco Antonio Barrera at the MGM in Las Vegas.

"I renewed my contract with Top Rank for 3 more years and i was informande that i have a February 12th fight date and one of the rivales that they mention is Manny Pacquiao", Mentioned the Tijuanan fighter.

Morales mentioned that his preparation for his fight against Barrera is going well and is at 90% completion with 3 weeks to go till fight night.

"I feel very strong in SuperFeatherweight and with confidence of winning by KO and showing that I am the best", Said the Tijuanan fighter who this Saturday will train in the Snow of Toluca.

Note: For this third fight Morales' team was able to negotiate better terms. Morales like others past fighters such as Jeff Fenech have Fists that dont fit the Reyes Gloves which Morales himself agrees to be the best in the world but have caused him previous hand injuries because his fists dont fit. So they will be fighting with gloves from the brand, "Winning" which Morales has accustomed to using, and he says allows him to get the confidence to let his hands go.

More fighters arrived re-infornce the Sparring staff this week, American's Steve Forbes, Marke Brus and Cedric Ferguson will join Jorge Monzon, Hector Velazquez, Eduardo Garcia and Ismael Gonzalez to help prepare Morales.

Morales will leave to Tijuana the 20th of this month where he will continue his training before heading to Las Vegas.

They always mention Pacman as EM's possible opponent, the camp of MAB says that thing too, and the Pacmans promoter says the Feb. rematch of Pacman vs. JMM is a done deal. So, what else is new.

Top Rank is using Manny's name. Truth is, EVERYONE in his weight class is a "possible opponent" of course. So by throwing big names here and there, publicity goes up. Of course, if he and his team really wanted to fight Pacquiao, Manny's already waiting for them...

          I agree mOOks.

BoxRec has listed the 26th of February 2005 as the WBA & IBF Featherweight championship showdown between Pacquiao and JMMarquez. ********* has that date also.
