i think some people are allowing the biased hbo team to affect their perception of this fight. Their description alone would lead you to believe that Cotto was putting on a boxing clinic while Margarito was being aggressive but ineffective when that clearly wasnt the case to everyone else watching. Cotto did everything he could to win that fight. he didnt simply run out of gas, Margarito wore him down with his relentless pressure and workrate. Cotto could have beaten anyone else that night but Margarito had too much chin and too much determination.

Margarito is alot like Gatti, but he is missing the most important part. Gatti was exciting because he came to fight (like Margarito), fought as hard as he could (like Margarito) but also because you knew his defense was **** (well...like Margarito) but also because that ****ty defense could lead to him being hurt or stopped at any time. Gatti was always taking the chance of being stopped, and he got badly hurt and cut in most of his fights and came back to win. Margarito being stopped is not something you ever think about while watching him fight. There isnt that "on the edge of your seat" with Margarito like there was with Gatti.
