If this is Fact, then Freddie is making up his Own Rules

    Weight limit for fight time:

I actually heard about this before this article came out but I thought it probably was b.s. because it was coming out of Bunce's mouth, but the article just posted on Boxing Scene said this:

"Final curious thought: Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, said all along that should De La Hoya weigh one pound over the limit of 147, he would not let Pacquiao fight. It could be that De La Hoya gambled on some extreme measure to make sure there was no danger of that happening. Certainly, he would not want to suffer the same embarrassment that Jose Luis Castillo and the late Diego Corrales did when they weighed in several pounds over for a couple of fights. Had the fight been canceled, all those millions of dollars would have went down the drain, too."

So how about that fight between Floyd and Margarito and Williams at 147. Remember, that is 147; nothing more. Fight time weight has to be at 147. Who do you think will make that weight by fight time and be least affected....Floyd or the other two?

    Freddie should negotiate for Floyd.

I think Roach meant at the weigh in, the contracted weight was 147, so he didn't want DLH coming in over 147 at the weigh in, not the fight.

        Possibly

I still would wonder about the contract since Oscar wasn't more than 147 by fight time so was this just ill planning of diet and training or was it part of the contract to come in no more than 147?

Although I guess that wouldn't make sense since Pac was over 147....

        So strike the thread

The only think Oscar hurt was his pride. His wallet did pretty well out of all this. I like Oscar, but he knew what he was letting himself in for. He knew all the ins and out of the contracts etc. He lost. Period.

GBP denied having anything in the contract that said DLH had to weigh in at 147 at fight time, Chris Byrd came out and said he suffered from the same thing DLH did where he only gained about 2 or 3 pounds between the weigh in and the fight for his fight with Shaun George, I think Roach meant 147 at the weigh in.

And as you said, Pacquiao was at 148.

I wonder if Fighters will finally learn from all this. Freddie mentioned a bunch of names but the ones I remember from seeing it myself was Roy, Tarver, and Chris Bryd...and now Oscar.

That is very odd. Sounds almost like a behind the scenes deal.

Their is no logical reason for DLH to have gotten that low and only come in on fight night at 147. That is the first and I guarantee the last time Oscar does that.

Yeah; I over-looked the fight time weight of Pac so it couldn't have been in the contract for fight-time weight...this is true. Oscar just killed his body's ability to replenish itself. Sucks for him.

The objective was obvious though on Roach's part: Get inside the head of Oscar to make him worry about the weight for the weigh-in. If he is one pound over, that's the end of the fight...so Oscar has to make sure he is at point or take the safer root and go just under it.

It seems now that DLH lost the weight the wrong way, Rob Garcia seems to have done a pretty bad job with his diet and conditioning.

I think DLH wanted to prove the point that Pacquiao was not that much smaller than him and came in light so that people will not say the fight was a mismatch, it was a ****** move if that's true.
