Ibeabuchi was denied parole in August 2004 and again in August 2007. He will be eligible for parole in Nevada again in December 2010, when he will be 37 years old. After a decade of inactivity, his boxing career is likely over.

Ibeabuchi as of late has been re-classified to Ely State Maximum Security Prison by Ely, NV., and his custody has been elevated from Medium to Maximum. He was last seen by the Nevada Parole Board on May 30, 2008.
