Why I can't stand Boxing as an industry.

This is harsh but Dana White is absolutely right in EVERYTHING he says in this particular interview. Apparently it isn't boxing related, but it turns out, not surprisingly, this guy, Gary Shaw is a BOXING PROMOTER! A little intro on who Gary Shaw is first:
Mr. Shaw began his professional affiliation with boxing in 1971, when he was appointed Inspector to the New Jersey State Athletic Control Commission (NJSAC) by Jersey Joe Walcott. In 1999 he changed sides and became the Chief Operating Officer of promoter Main Events where he helped stage Lennox Lewis vs. Mike Tyson, the biggest grossing fight in history, up to that date. On January 21, 2008, New Jersey promoter Gary Shaw confirmed (in Manila) IBF flyweight champion Nonito Donaire’s title defense versus Hussein Hussein in Dubai on April 4. Third Force Promotions per president Noli Eala will stage the triple world championship card. The 2 other world title fights include - WBO minimumweight champion Donnie Nietes against No. 1 contender Daniel Reyes of Colombia and IBF lightflyweight titlist Ulises Solis of Mexico against OPBF Juanito Rubillar.

Now what Dana White has to say (i must say i have a new found profound respect for the guy now):

What you can do to help boxing? Ironically, boycott it.

That comes to show what kind of people is involved in boxing. A fix like that would never even been mentioned in the boxing world. God bless Dana for loving his sport. Also the structure in mma prevents promoters from having a really big role because fighters (most of them) are in organizations which prevent them from handpicking their opponents: DREAM (former PRIDE), the UFC, Heros, K1-Dynamite, some minor ones. Although some fighters have escaped this and some matchmaking is being made (Fedor i love you but you not being in any major org and your last fights were really not that competitive, Tim was ok, the 7ft Korean guy making his debut was not, really take away something from you). Still the major players including the p4p fighter of the world are UNDER CONTRACT and their promoters don't really pick their fights themselves. Dana does that, which is just one person and a visible face (accountable).

Basically i feel fights should happen in a competition environment, only in that way they are truly meaningful. UFC and DREAM gives you that. Boxing? Not in a long time. Guys like Joe Calzaghe or Valuev, just to mention 2, wouldn't make it in the UFC and Kimbo Slice probably would make it to the hall of fame in boxing had he been a boxer (proper training) with his talent level. This is what i mean. Boxing is very dirty, most of it's championship fights DON'T MEAN JACK ****. That's why they are not seeing any of my money.

One time Kimbo said that he could beat Tyson. That really annoyed me. :@:@:@

To OP, money and corruption go hand in hand. Wherever there's big money involved, there's a good chance that corruption's not far behind.

That's something I do admire about UFC, the best fight the best.

That's rarely the case in boxing anymore.

Mayweather/Hatton was fixed, they know who they wanted to win and I expect the same with Pac/Hatton, no inside fighting permitted.

They tried to fix Calzaghe/Hopkin too but Calzaghe was too good.

It sickens me even more that the corruptness of boxing is not limited to the pros. Just look at the Olympics.
