This was a rare fight in which I not only predicted the correct round but also came damn close to predicting the number of knockdowns...

Only I was dead wrong on the winner.

I picked Chico to overcome an early deficit to rally back, snatch Floyd's heart and force him to quit in the 10th. Whoops.

I keep telling people that they forget so much aobut how good Chico was. He was murdering guys at this time. I would pick that Chico over JMM, Pac, EM, and MAB at 130. Dude would stratight decapitate you and no one gives Floyd major credit. They act like Chico was just an average to good fighter but he was a monster at that time. Way better P4P then a guy like Margarito was 2 years ago when everyone was sweating him.

Also, I just heard a few of you talking about Chico being weight drained and comparing it to Oscar-Pac. I always eat that argument up by saying 3 and a half years later Chico was still the Champ at SFW so how could he be weight drained? Comparing that to Oscar is like comparing apples & oranges to apples & oranges

Good point...VERY good point. I still think this was Mayweather's BEST performance in the ring, even better than the Gatti fight.

He actually wasn't the underdog for this fight.

On the HBO telecast of this fight, they said that Floyd was a 7-5 favorite.

I think Genaro Hernandez was the only fight of his career that he was an underdog.

Erik always has that same look even when he was fighting at 122. look up his earlier fights.

Mayweather was the favourite for this fight just like someone else pointed out earlier, But i dont agree with this Corrales was weight-drain excuses, If he was weight-drained he would have moved up after he lost to PBF but he didnt.

I picked Calzaghe to win by UD but I was still very surprised that he stopped Lacy, although I still wasn't impressed with him and to this day, I'm still not.

it's not necessarily just making the weight, it's how you make it. there's a good chance that, for whatever reason, chico came into camp heavy, or he had a bad camp, or his body just didn't respond the way it had in previous fights to taking the weight off.

i think mayweather would have beaten the best version of corrales, but it's hard to watch that fight and say there was nothing wrong with corrales. it might not have been weight, but he didn't look the corrales we'd seen up until that point, and the corrales we saw after.
