i thought about this myself and i think floyd probably has been working out every other day..and staying fit the ENTIRE time he was out..floyd is EASILY the smartest ring general there is right now. and if ANYTHING the layoff will do him good..i dont think that it'll effect him AT ALL to be honest..the guy has speed and skills like a 24yr old NOT a 31 yr old..he doesnt go to war like morales and others.. aside from his right hand that has a HISTORY of ****in up he doesnt really have much damage to his body..he doesnt drink or do drugs ive never heard of ANYTHING drug related..i mean seriously..how many times have u seen floyd being hit the head in all 39 fights?? he has damn good genes and i really think he'll be just fine..Comment

^ I seriously doubt he's in anywhere near fighting shape, and probably been too busy with his extracurricular work to assume otherwise.
Father time eventually does catch up with everyone, even those as physically gifted as Floyd.Comment

Inactivity kills; A fighter must fight at least every 3 months to be at his absolute best says the Old Timer who I forget said it on Ringside.
Freddie Roach said you can't be a part time fighter and Floyd Sr. agreed.
Mike Tyson said this:
Pay close attention to what he says about Ray Leonard
Note: Ray Leonard had been off 2 years because of his eye problem, came back, and was put on his ass. He did win the fight by KO, but he seemed embarrassed by his performance and retired afterwards. He did come back to fight Hagler which was 3 years later (I think) and won a close fight but Hagler was also a fading fighter and the reason why Leonard took the fight.
Ali was off for 3+ years and came back slower and lost his great ability to move around for the full fight which is why he started hanging on the ropes. Ali said he stamina was never the same when he came back and he was still young. Of course, 2 years is not 3, but inactivity kills.
Jack Dempsey: Went to Hollywood and didn't box for 3 years. When he came back, he wasn't quite the same and lost to Tunney.
Tyson: 3 years in jail and came out looking like **** as far as boxing ability. Of course, most of it may have had to do with his Mental and Physical status together...along with never having a proper trainer like Rooney by his side, but he was **** compared to what he once was. Plus, jail might not be a good thing for a healthy mind. Soooooo, maybe not a great example.
Billy Conn: 4 year layoff ended his greatness. Was KO'd by Joe Louis who also didn't look the same after his layoff because of the War. I think Billy was 29 or 30.
I'll fact check later.Comment

Last I heard he was on tour Promoting his Music show...something like that. I can see him still doing push-ups and sit-ups to keep in decent shape for the ladies. Plus, it would look really weird seeing him with a gut and pudgy face. His Father and Uncle still look fit; good genes.Comment
