He is going on 30 wins without challenging for a world title yet his pace has already slowed to a near stand still.

2 fights in 08 against well chosen and out manned opposition. Nothing concrete in place for 09. He will be lucky to get to 45 wins before he calls it quits.

Also consider that the standard bearers for highest knockout totals amongst modern heavyweights, George Foreman and Ernie Shavers, fought long stretches against "nobodies" in the middle or at the end of their careers. Something Klitschko will not have to do to achieve his totals.

Why would anybody fight as frequently as the fighters of the past if they make much more money for two or three fights per year.

Go read the Sugar Ray Leonard biography book. In it it says that he didn't even like boxing but did it for the paycheck. He still wound up broke at the end.

If you're in a position where you can make millions per fight, why fight as frequently???

From what I read, Dimitrenko had some issues with his promoters and had problem scheduling fights. He's rated top 5 in all versions, yet Kohl is not rushing to set him up for a title fight. Methinks Kohl is holding him back on purpose.
