I'm pissed off that you didn't included Larry Merchant as an option. And that's not even a joke (some people say Larry sucks). He's been calling fights for HBO since 1978, and he's also a great sportswriter. (Old school days at the Philadelphia Daily News)Comment

Larry Merchant
I should have been more specific. I meant Blow by Blow announcers, which would exclude guys like Merchant and Roy Jones as they are color commentators. I will post a similar poll today about them, and yes, Merchant is one of the great color commentators of all timeComment

Roy Jones makes no sense when he talks. Plus, you can tell he's taken one too many hits to the dome.Comment

You've gotta be kidding me. Did you even watch Roy's commentary from 2004 to 2005 when he would tell you exactly what was going to happen before it did? He said in round 2 that Tito should KO Mayorga with a body shot...it happened 6 rounds later. He said Hopkins was about to floor Allen with a straight right hand...it happened literally moments later.
Roy is the smartest boxing analyst I've ever seen
But I think the aim here is someone who brings drama to boxing and that's either Lampley or Steve Albert.
If half of you had even seen Howard Cosell rather than just hear about him, you'd say he was boring as **** as a commentator.Comment
