Ricky Hatton clearly has the better pay days. He's just a very likeable fellow. Calzaghe on the other hand is a legendary fighter, but he has the charisma of breakfast leftovers.

So Ricky is the bigger bread getter? You could have pretty much figured it out. Ricky fans follow him to the US in herds. Cant say the same for Calzaghe. Across the pond though, they both pack them in.Comment

Maybe it's also because Calzaghe has the personality of a cardboard box and cant knock opponents out.Pretty much.
Helps being quite an extrovert, loving the limelight, being on tv a lot, massively supporting a local football team which you fight at and having a drink with fans after wards.
Plus fighting a couple of times in the best division in boxing, one of which p4p #1, and the next logical fight is also p4p #1.
These are just some of the reasons, not to mention him showing much more willingness to fight in America. Although Calzaghe has beaten more Americans than any other nation, it's just he'd have bigger pockets had he have done it over there a few years ago.
To each their own.Comment

Ricky's style is more fan friendly then Joes, if your into mugging and hugging when not punching. I thought Joe had herds that followed along also. Evidently not. At least not equal to Hattons herds.Comment

Joe is popular in the UK cos he was a world champ for 10years straight but his fights dont get as much buzz as when Hatton fights. When Hatton fought Mayweather it was on all over the newspapers and The Mirror even had abig centerpeice about Hatton.
Frank Warren said reason Calzaghe never got much money as Hatton and Naz was becasue he wouldn't go out and meet fans and get his name out there.Comment

I remember when Naz use to make straight bread, or a lot of money. I remember when he was getting more then RJ. But damn, I didnt think he was getting more then Calzaghe. Hatton, forget about it. His bread is long.Comment

If I remember correctly Naz had huge sponser ship deals in the UK and he was on Sky Box Office almost every fight. I cant remember Joe ever been a PPV fighter? I think his fight with Reid was on SBO but sure that was part of a deal like the Khan one the other week.Comment
