3 fighters that already proved that Margaritos chin can stand up to bigger Fighters

I'm a Margarito fan for sure.


I haven't heard anyone questioning his granite chin.


But one thing that you can say is that when fighting people who are as big, or even bigger than him physically...he hasn't been tremendously successful.

I think this is because a lot of his success is based on him being able to impose his will physically on smaller opponents, after all, he is a really big 147.

Not to take anything away from him, but I honestly feel this is where a lot of his success lies.

In the fights the OP mentioned, he is 2-2-1 (NC)


Which isn't particularly impressive.

Santos actually hurt Margarito pretty bad in their second fight, and he's not even considered close to a big puncher. There's a reason Margarito stays away from 154

1. Santos did not hurt Margarito at any time
2. Margarito stays away from Puerto Rico for a reason(highway robbery)
3. Santos is lucky both fights were in his backyard judged by his blind uncles

I wasn't arguing that point though. All over this board I hear names like Pavlik getting thrown out at Margarito and how he would knock him out. I'm arguing that his chin is good at any weight from 160 down and thats all.

Yeah HBO and The Ring had margarito ahead at the end of the second fight and as usual margarito was surging after losing some early rounds.

Just wanted to make one point about his fights with Bigger fighters. Yes he lost 2 of them one to Santos and one to Williams. But he surged late in both fights after taking their best shots early. Against williams his shots were stronger and harder which won him 5 of the last 6 rounds and Tony looked less the worse for wear at the end of that fight. In the Santos fight Santos was really laboring in the later rounds and Tony had really stormed his way back into the fight the same way he did against Cotto. So if you ask me in both fights margarito still looked physically stronger especially compared to williams who as big as he is seems to be too much of a finesse fighter.
