Marquez showed better ring generalship, controlled the pace, and by the end had landed more decent punches

watching that round makes me wonder how some people scream robbery. All that round proves to me is how close and how the fight overall could have went either way. and if u ask me, my vote goes for Pacman, but i have to respect someones opinion if they said Marquez, because both can justify good arguments. Some of the posters here really are silly though.

there was a knockdown, so you can't have a draw

BTW, compubox scores in that round: Pacquiao 12 out of 49 shots landed, Marquez 6 out of 43.

People think just because Pac is not doing his usual aggressive style that hes not controlling the fight, but the fact of the matter is he picked his spots in that round and was scoring way more points then JMM. Didn't have to be hard shots, but they where landing, even if it was a quick counter Jab by pac over the jab of JMM. People are not used to seeing Pac box, but he is alot more capable then most people think, he showed that in the Dela Hoya fight where he boxed, boxed, and brawled and pick his spots to go on the offensive.
Pac won this fight pretty convincingly especially the knockdown and the other knockdown that should have counted where JMM is falling backwards and grabs the ropes to save his life near the end of the 3 round I believe.
Totally agree with this post. Round 1 cannot be scored for Marquez in my opinion.

Pretty even round and very tough to score. Pacquiao was using his jab pretty well and scoring with it. Marquez controlled the pace of the round better with his ring generalship and landed the most telling blow of the round.

I hate to score a 10-10 round, but this one falls right into that category. You could argue that Pac landed a few more shots, or that Marquez landed the hardest punch in the round...very tough!
