The ring belt has more bling, plus it doesn't come with a fee.
Why People give more credit to the ring belt?

the ring has a panel of boxing experts come up with their rankings. this is why you don't see gary lockett being rated the number 1 middleweight like the wbo had. also this doesn't happen. The WBO twice moved Darrin Morris up in its super-middleweight rankings in 2001, despite the fact that he was dead. surprised calzaghe didn't fight this guy.Comment

Well, I think comparing GBP and Don King is a little out there.
The Ring Title at LW being fought for between GBP fighters? That's because two of the top 4 LW are GBP fighters. One of the top 4 being Pac and only fighting super fights. I have no doubt that the winner of Marquez/Diaz fights Campbell should he get past Funeka.
Truth of the matter is this, there is something called conflict of interest that applies here.
If a juror happens to be a cousin of a murder suspect, do you think that's a conflict or do we have to let it go because we cannot determine how cool they are and if they only see each other on the holidays?
No, because you cannot separate one from the other, they are intertwined and cannot be separated in an unbiased fashion.
Why isn't the Ring speaking out about how Marquez, their champion, should fight Campbell. But they were saying that Pacquiao should fight one of their guys, Joan Guzman.
Fishy, no?Comment

"Ring Awards Pacquiao, But Says Marquez Won"
Begrudgingly, Ring Magazine gives the belt to Pacquiao, but they added that they felt the Golden Boy fighter won.
Where was this comment on Casamayor when he was handed a birthday present decision over Jose Santa Cruz?
Some sanctioning bodies refuse to do so if they don't like the way the match went.

Why, because we always equate Don King with bad and Oscar de la Hoya with good?

If GBP didn't own The Ring, don't you think they would their Ring champions trying to protect the belts still? No promotion company likes losing belts.Comment

The fact that they don't have a mandatory policy is good in this instance though, because all of the things they are saying about who should fight who is merely suggestion.

Bob Arum's words has just as much significance to who fights who for the belt...
If a TR fighter has the Ring belt, then what does GBP accomplish by saying their dudes should fight a GBP fighter? Nothing, unless the TR fighter takes the bait.Comment

Martin Camara had been down 5 times but in the 11th caught Jackson and had him out for a 10 count. He was declared the winner by KO but an hour later the referee bizarrely said the round had alreayd ended. Later, the WBO then called it a no-contest in perhaps one of the biggest robberies in boxing history.
look at the scorecards lol! 110-95
Judge: Sherman McBride 110-95
Judge: Phil Newman 106-98
Judge: Frank Brunette 108-96Comment
