Ah, what can you expect? It is ludacris that a "world class" commentary crew like HBO would consistently get something like this wrong, on air, several different times, with absolutely no correction.

But what can you expect? The only one at the desk that knows his **** is Larry Merchant and he's drunk half the time, so he doesn't notice that many mistakes.

I want to get a gig announcing boxing and just ruin the historical facts.

Kellermen's awful, he really is. I can't think of too many sports were a regular top commentator can repeatedly get away with blatant disinformation about a big event in the sport.

If it happened in Football (soccer) out here the commentator would be laughed at and corrected immediately, let alone getting away with it a 2nd or third time.

Even in Boxing most countries and networks commentators pull each other up immediately to ensure the commentator isn't criticised or the viewer goes away with the wrong info, I'm sorry to say.

I would love something like that.

But don't touch on Marvis with me, son. That's a sore subject.

I completely agree. And you and I don't see eye to eye too often. But you're absolutely spot on on this one. And to think, they're shoving Larry Merchant away into the dark abyss, calling lackluster fights so they can get Max on for the big ones. It's insanity. Even in his most drunken stooper Larry Merchant slays Kellerman on his best day.

Damn I'm going to miss Larry.
