People get stuck on the "past thier prime" vs "prime" thing. What they fail to realize is that Manny is coming up from featherweight. That's what makes it a "fair" and intriguing match up. I think Shane vs Manny would be a damn good fight right now.

The thread would only work for me if there was a bit of a humor tone. I wasn't sure that is what he meant.

I think there are bigger fights to talk about so I was basically asky why talk about this.
Um, what would be bigger than a fight with Sugar Shane Mosley???

He was coming up from lightweight when he fought Oscar. And Manny, according to Roach, was on his way to 140 because he is struggling to make 135 for the weigh-in. He showed up at 147 by fight time for his 135 fight and he out-weighed Oscar on fight-night for their match. That's something to consider for his matured size.

I think it depends on how far past prime the fighter is. How far past his prime would you say Shane is based on a 1-10 scale...with 10 being shot.

There are so many fights to make right now and given Roach's position that Manny has two more fights to fight, there are some good names out ther other than Past Prime Shane. If Shane was younger, yeah, great match-up. I'm just not sure what Shane can do against a fast pressure fighter.

I don't know, maybe I am a bit curious to see what Shane can do, but I wouldn't riks it if I had to make a choice since it is more likely Shane shows a poor performance now than ever. Older fighters can pull out a good victory but in their next match, look like crap. If it's them, possible...if it's the opponent, possible as well. Rollercoaster.

          Pendejo.
Right now you have Hatton...which is a done deal I think.

          Floyd, if he comes back.

          JMM, again.

If Pac fought Shane it would have to be at 147. Even at 147, Shane has said he would prefer to fight at 154 because he feels fresher. Judging by his stamina in his last fight, if it's not age, it could be the weight division.
And, if the fight is made at 147 against Shane, Pac entering the 147 division will give open opportunity for criticism on Pac fighting at 147, again, and not fighting the best.

Name wise, it's a big fight. But a "fight" against healthy/prime fighters not so much.

If you are going to fight at 147, there are some good fighters to fight that will give a great fight for the fans.

I don't have any "ALT," although I do admit, reading many of BennST posts does reinforce the idea that "Great Minds do think alike."

I always think it's weird when someone picks a fighter to ko another fight who hasn't been ko'ed in 50 fights.

The odds just don't seem good on that, no matter who it is.

I don't know... This is a hard question, and I'm a manny pacquiao fan too...

It's just that mosley might be too big, I think Mosley would put on weight after the weigh-in unlike Oscar.
