Maskaev to be named Vitaliy's next mandatory defense... WTF?

WTF..? I thought Klitschko was fighting Haye but after Gomez now the WBC seems to be ordering him to fight Maskaev for the title within 3-4 months.
Damn joke is what that is. Once these eastern euros took over the titles they seem to be milking it for all its worth..can someone explain this situation..what happens to the Haye fight or will Klitschko just drop the wbc and fight Haye but then why would Haye want Klitschko if he has no belt?

Oleg Maskaev is getting a title shot??!

According to an exclusive memo obtained by *********.com, former WBC heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev will get a chance to regain his title against the winner of a proposed fight between current champion Vitali Klitschko and mandatory challenger Juan Carlos Gomez. According to the memo, sent by WBC president Jose Sulaiman last Monday, Klitschko is to fight Gomez by April 30, 2009 with a potential extension allowed to no later than June 30. With Gomez getting his title shot it will clear the way for Maskaev (35-6, 26 KO's) to become the mandatory challenger. The winner of the Klitschko-Gomez fight then has 120 days to defend his title against Maskaev "with a possible extension of 60 additional days under extenuating circumstances." A period of 30 days, according to the memo, will be allowed after the Klitschko-Gomez fight to negotiate a fight against Maskaev, which, if not completed accordingly, will then go thru the traditional purse offer procedure.
what the...huh?! what in the blazes did Maskaev do to deserve a mandatory title shot?

    nothing makes sense anymore.

Fight with Haye is Happening regardless of what the WBC say from what i hear.
Vitali will most likely just get stripped and then IF he gets by Haye just smash up the new champ and get the belt back

Oh well, at least Maskeav has done more than Holyfield to deserve a title shot...

He has ONE win this year, Holyfield has had none since June 2007.

Maskaev vs. Gomez will be the worst heavyweight title fight in history since.... well, since Maskaev vs. Okhello.

The WBC heavyweight title has been a joke since Lennox gave it up...it's easily the worst of the 4 major belts, and with the musical-chairs WBA Ruiz/Chagaev/Valuev rotation, that's saying A LOT!

How old is this? The Vitali - Gomez fight is not going to happen; if the WBC don't sanction the fight with Haye Vitali will vacate, anyway.

Other than that, who knows... rankings are impossible to figure out, anyway. Seemingly the WBC have Chagaev at #5, but then somehow they have Arreola at #2 so anything is possible!

Vitali is going to have to dump the WBC belt or have it stripped then since he's fighting Haye next, not Gomez and then Maskaev. This is why a unified Champion will never happen again. The mandatory fighters of each org are usually a joke.
