Tommy 'The Duke" Morrison is planning a return to the boxing ring once again sometime in 09. That's right folks the on and off again HIV former heavyweight champion of the world is returning. Tommy Morrison's promoter, Peter Maniatis is trying to get Morrison once again (magically) medically cleared to fight either Solomon Haumono or John Hopoate. Soloman Haumono and Hopoate are two of the biggest names in heavyweight boxing, with Hopoate the current Australian champion. Lets see what Tommy Morrison has left, and that is of course if he doesn't die of AIDS first. (hahaha)

wish all these old past it boxers like morrison and bowe just dissappear for good, it is just embarrassing, freak show like. boxing is I believe in a state of transition, just got over the bad and now gearing up to be the sport that everyone is switching back to and talking about. Boxing now is more global than ever, and not just confined to the u.s/latin americas and with a few brits in there. There are champions and worthy contenders from all corners of the world with more depth now and newcomers coming through.
Boxing still has problems to fix, like the amount of belts on offer and boxing federations and television politics and interference but boxing has to move on and does not need these old washed up fighters hanging around way past their primes.
all boxing need is the best fighting the best like cotto-magarito. More match ups like this will do. -
