    Prison Boxing

What is everyones take on it?

Prison Boxing usually consists of three 3 minute rounds and usually is a war to the end, as it doesnt let enough time to feel an opponent out, Headgear is optional and follows amateur boxing rules strictly.

When prisons present this to their inmates, it is a reward as well as a means to make them conform, By letting them do this they are introduced to a disciplined act and everyone knows when you are a boxer you have to be disciplined.

Not many have came out into the pro ranks from this but one boxer almost made it to the big time (sort of) and that was Clifford Ettiene he was in Jail for armed robbery in louisana and fough 30 times in prison with zero losses, this record is unbeaten and looked how he turned it around (he was a contendor although nothing great you still have to give credit)

So what is your take on it?

I think it is great, conforms individuals to discipline and keeps them in order and gives them a possible future and makes them a better person. I like the idea a lot and thinks it could help especially when and if a prisoner gets out.

they should send this out to all the people in prison to see "never **** with a pro boxer" stop and think about it, had tyson been in there. For fun and kicks yeah but not for the big dawgs, however Hopkins did learn some of his skills in prison, I think it was called the 52 punch block or something like that, this one guy posted a link about it here a few months back, word has it that Tyson , Hopkins and a few others know of this

Clifford "The Black Rhino" Ettiene is a buddy of mine, who fought in prison. If you count his prison fights - his actual fight record was 50-1-1 when he fought Tyson - or should I say "didn't" fight Tyson---sorry Clifford!

I found that is that anything related to it????

Doing a brief search, I guess zab/tyson/hopkins are the main 3 who knows about it and zab supposedly used it a bit of his early matchups and Tyson did something with it in his bout with bonecrusher smith.

This has gotten my attention and made my eyes open wide...

If anyone has info on this pleast post it.

Liston started fighting seriously in prison...I believe he was in there for armed robbery. Anyway, it gave him at least a chance to make it, even though things didn't turn out quite right. Still, he would have been just another union buster if it wasn't for that program.

Boxing gives everyone, rich and poor, a chance to learn some discipline, gain confidence, and learn to do something that is genuinely rewarding. Boxing teaches you to fight fair, to pick on someone your one size, etc.

I love that scene in Friday when Ice Cube's Dad is telling him to fight with his fists and not with a gun. People are always going to be violent and angry but if you channel it the right way then fewer people get hurt.
