I agree, I don't know who their matchmaker is, but he should do a little more research into the sport of boxing. And to those claiming we are all writing off Winky now that he's had a loss and been inactive... not true, SOME of us have been saying that Winky was a boring fighter for 5 years now. He's a master of his craft, just like Beethoven was. But that doesn't mean I want to sit there for hours watching Beethoven scribble down notes on paper while composing a piece.... boring, like Wright!

Why is HBO protecting Taylor from Froch?? Do they care more of recognition names in america than championship fights?? I don't know whats happening with this network but it doesn't smell any good

Of course. More recognition means bigger audience figures.

First Taylor didnt fight Froch cos he wanted to fight a more recognised name to make money. you can let the slide cos he's coming off losses. Now Froch has the WBC title, Taylor has to fight him or another titlist. if he fights Winky he officially becomes a joke and i would lose a lot of respect for him! I know Taylor might not have the full say in it but he should put his foot down on this one.

I'm not saying he HAS to fight Froch, but he absolutely HAS to fight a titlist or a prime up & coming contender. otherwise he's just gonna have fought 2 shot fighters. Nothing like kicking off his SMW campaign with a whimper.
I agree that Taylor/Froch is a better fight right now, but I don't think you can place much blame on Taylor in this situation. Dibella has said they want Froch, HBO is the one saying no. Taylor has an exclusive contract with HBO. I don't know what it would take to get out of that contract but with the way HBO is ****ing him around, I'm guessing his hands are tied.

Forget Froch or Wright... I want Taylor to fight Mikkel Kessler. Jermain is a veteran in the game now, he doesn't need babysteps in the Super Middleweight division. Kessler wants the fight, and seems willing to come to America. What more could Jermain ask for?

That's also a fight I could get down with, and it sounds like HBO would accept it too. I think if HBO could pick and choose though, they'd rather have Kessler fight a name before taking on Taylor though, in order to get him the publicity needed to be able to offer enough money to both fighters.

There is no doubt that Taylor/Kessler would be an even bigger fight in late 2009, early 2010.

Fair enough it might not all be his fault. HBO are taking an incredibly simple minded view towards this fight. A championship fight could potentially in the future drum up more PPV's for them then a short-sighted take the cash and run sort of fight they're proposing.

Why do TV networks have more say than the actual boxing world on what fights happen? I know its money but its wrong!

There is hope, little hope, in what was said in this article. That being HBO would consider Kessler/Taylor. And I don't think the money has to be outrageous either because I think Kessler wants to come to America and fight a creditable opponent and that would be Taylor. Taylor/Froch/Kessler - anyway you split is good. I say have a Super Middleweight night (as I've said) - Froch/Taylor/Kessler/Bute/Andrade/Bika/Pascal - I realize some of these guys have lost to each other but they weren't boring fights and they don't deserve to be written off.

Winky doesn't deserve the primetime on HBO for all of the aforementioned things. A spot on an ESPN card wouls serve him well.

They did put on Jones-Calzaghe so I would have to agree. Talk about a meaningless fight.
