Arum: There will be more fights on TV in 2009

"Arum was hit hard by Univision's canceling the boxing program on Telefutura. But he is undaunted. He is looking at raising sponsorship money and buying time on network TV to garner greater exposure for his young boxers.

"I'm making a prediction -- there will be more shows on TV, even without Telefutura, in 2009 than there was in 2008," Arum said. "A lot of people are working on alternatives. There are certain promoters that stand back and say the sky is falling, and others who work on alternatives."

I keep hearing network TV from Arum, but I don't want to get my hopes up. Wouldn't it be something if Cotto-Margarito II was on NBC though?

I'm sure sponsors would jump at this because product exposure will not only be limited to the network that will be airing the fights but will actually extend to global audiences via streams. Advertisers pay for a certain audience share but is actually getting more in return, win-win situation.

Arum has been saying this for YEARS and I doubt a big match will ever end up on network t.v.
