The most ******ed aspect of this thread is that Cinco de Mayo isnt even a Mexican holiday. It's an american holiday.

Why not have them fight that weekend? It's a big party weekend in this country...for Mexicans and non-Mexicans alike.

If there's no other big-name Hispanic fighter available to fill the slot, the next best thing is to have two ring warriors like Pac and Hatton go at it with their crowd-pleasing "Mexican" style of fighting. It's okay with me, it'll be an exciting fight to watch with a packed house of friends over!

Who would you prefer to fight that weekend? The Margarito-Cotto rematch would've been huge that weekend, but it'll be big on the eve of the Puerto Rican Day Parade in NY too. So who else???

Maybe if Juan Diaz and Juan Manuel Marquez were bigger names, that would also be a good option for that weekend. That fight will be big in Houston when it happens, but probably wouldn't do that great anywhere else.

Hatton-Pacquiao on Cinco de Mayo is all good with me!

And ferocity have the galls to claim 5-de mayo a weekend holiday....LMAO!

BTW, in the Philippines, Mayo Uno (May 1) is labor day. So the fight is actually a Mayo-Uno holiday weekend for Pinoys.

It's the same thing in Mexico, May 1st is Día del Trabajo.

Cinco de Mayo IS a holiday in Mexico...but not celebrated on the scale that it's celebrated here in the States. It's become very commercialized and it's basically just a reason to eat, drink and party...to be an "honorary Mexican" for the day!

Its more of a Mexican-American thing. But these idiots act like they don't know whats up. More and more cities in Mexico are now participating in 5 de Mayo.
