    In Tarver's defense...sort of

I am totally against this rematch. Let's get that out of the way from the start. Most people here know that I am a Tarver fan and have been long before his first fight with Roy Jones. But I don't want to see this rematch happen at all. I'd rather see Tarver, having passed the torch, either try a cruiserweight or heavyweight fight or get out of the sport.

But in his defense, guys have taken worse beatings than him before and gotten rematches. The best case I can think of is Shane Mosley getting an immediate rematch with Vernon Forrest after being destroyed just as bad as Tarver was by Dawson. Mosley lost the first fight to Forrest after suffering TWO knockdowns that were a lot worse than the one Dawson scored and the score should have been something like 118-108 for Forrest. It was unanimous and something along those lines.

Now I know there's a huge difference here. While Dawson is basically in the same position as Forrest was then (undefeated), Tarver is not in the same position that Mosley was since it was Mosley's first defeat and a lot of people wanted to see if he could avenge it. Tarver has avenged all of his losses when given the chance in his defense. Only Hopkins didn't rematch him, but Hopkins beat him even worse in my opinion than Dawson did.

I don't want to see Tarver fight Dawson or Hopkins again. It's bad for the sport and probably going to be a waste of time, but there is a case to be made that he deserves one last shot.

Just make sure you don't tune in for the fight if you don't agree with it. It's the only way to stop these things from happening.

I see your point, but in Glens defense... Tarver got completely shut out in that fight, and Johnson BARELY lost, possibly even won that fight...

Theres only one person that deserves the rematch, and it isnt tarver...

Maybe tarver and Johnson should have had a rematch and the winner got Dawson...

But obviously that isnt going down

Dawson-Johnson II all the way. I think everybody can agree that is the fight to make, and I'll be pissed if Dawson doesn't take that fight after this one. He isn't getting Calzaghe or Hopkins. If he doesn't realize that, then he's miscalculating his worth.

Calzaghe and Dawson do seem to have something in common with their last 2 fighter selections though... I wont say what :x
