    HBO 24/7/ Twenty Fraud 7

Does anyone else see past this brainwashing material HBO throws at us everytime a big fight lingers? I think boxing was so much better when we had little insight on fighters before the fight, maybe an interview or a press conference is fine..But HBO does so much editing and bull**** on 24/7 that they convince you that the fighters are in the BEST SHAPE OF THEIR LIVES, more prepared than ever for the task at hand and WILL NOT FAIL NO MATTER WHAT! Its starting to have an undeniable pattern..Even these countdowns somewhat brainwash the general public into thinking both fighters are coming in 100% ready for anything and everything...Hatton Mayweather, Pavlik Hopkins, Jones Calzaghe, DLH PAC, everyone was convinced by HBO that these were all gonna be good competitive fights to say the least...Anyone else think HBO is brainwashing people? And do you think boxing would be better off without these countdowns and 24/7?

Well he is on to something, but regardless is helps build up hype for the fight. It helps them sell tickets, and actually allows the fans to really appreciate the match up's more, or at least for most...I think

it's hbo's job to promote their fights. its up to real boxing fans to know hype from substance.

If you ask me, for the DLH-Mayweather, DLH-Pacquiao, and the Mayweather-Hatton fights, theres no denying that the fighters were all in unbelieveable shape. Oscar trained super hard, he just overtrained is all, but he looked really good in training, looked fast, etc.

Only problem is that such hard and good training can **** you up, or not be the right training (i.e. Hatton for Mayweather - Grahm sucks).

i used to think it was mostly bs but if you look at pac-oscar 24/7 the signs were there......pac was training hard and extremely determined while oscar was just focused on making weight and knocking him out.....roy yones 24/7 he was sparring inbred kids while joe was doing business as usual

You are one of the few who doesn't like getting an insider's view of what's going on.

Its a promotional tool, more than anything else.

You should know this...but obviously don't.

These shows aren't meant to brainwash anyone. They're meant to show viewers a side of the fighters that they don't normally see...which is the part of the fighters that we, as normal people, can relate to.

Basically, in showing casual watchers that in some way, these fighters are no different than us working class citizens, we are supposed to feel more inclined to support these fighters.

maybe they shoud make dvds without any cuts so you could see alot more of what actually goes on. i'm sure the fighters wouldnt agree to it though. nobody wants to be seen getting their asss beat sparring.

I hear what you're saying, but i love the 24/7 i have only recently really got into boxing and i love the hype the 24/7 gives you before the fight, when you hear a fight is about to happen and you will have you're opion on who will win but when you watch the 24/7 it starts putting doubts in your head about who could win, sch as the DLH Pac fight i totally thought DLH would win but after watching 24/7 i backed Pac which paid off. I would hate the 24/7 series to end, if a fight is going to be **** it will be regardless of 24/7

It's only a selling tool. I don't have a problem with it. I think it sometimes adds to the build up. Just like showing movie teasers on TV etc.

I do understand what the thread starter is getting at.

It's also aimed at non boxing fans as well. It's like watching a TV series and to watch the final episode to have to buy the PPV. It's pretty smart from the HBO side of things.

But there should are more and more of them now.
