    "You need a knockout"

This is what Enzo said to Joe before the beginning of the 12th round (in the Hopkins fight). Now, why would he say this unless he thought that Joe was behind in the fight?

But for some reason, this is never talked about.

By the way, I have a lot of respect for Joe and think he is a tremendous fighter.

Enzo thought it was a close fight, and this is NORMAL talk for a trainer to spur on a fighter during the latter stages of a fight. Over the years and watching thousands of fights I have seen it countless times. It's NORMAL. That's why nobody bothers to mention it. It's not even worth talking about.

It was. Some would even say Joe was robbed of a UD.

He said it because he knew the fight was extremely close at that point and he couldn't be sure how the judges had seen it. Of course Enzo was worried Calzaghe was going to lose the fight and he knew he had to motivate Calzaghe to produce a big round.

At that point I had Calzaghe up by a round and then I gave him the final round as well. It was a close fight.

Yes but did Enzo? And did Joe even think he had won the fight? He looked very nervoous when the decision was announced.
