God damn it! That prick is still there. Man, I really feel for Katsidis. He has some hope to be a big lightweight star if he gets rid of that hack trainer. There is so much he could have done, and be doing, better if he had a better trainer.

Anyway, I think this is the type of fight he should have taken after the Casa loss instead of going straight back into a fight against Diaz. That put him back quite a way, and so I think this is a good fight for him right now.

If only he would get a new trainer then I would be happy, because with the same trainer you just know that he could be doing so much better and winning the fights that should have been winnable for him instead of being told the worst advice in boxing history!

I agree, Katsidis would be much better off with someone else, someone like Roach would be good for him who teaches offense while not forgetting defense, Smith does give horrible advice in the corner, he sounded almost incompetent in the corner for the Diaz fight but the judges came out looking even more incompetent.

Well judging by many of the comments on this article it appears that I'm not the only one who's both surprised and irritated. I really like Katsidis and his aggressive style however his trainer, friend, cook, manager, and whatever else he is is going to ruin Michael's career. The loss to Cassamayor I chalk up to inexpirience and thought Katsidis could have one that if he would have been better disciplined. His fight against the baby bull was also winnable however Smith tried to turn Katsidis into a boxer and was after a points win. Katsidis is a brawler and restraining him for fear of losing a second time was a horrible thing to do. I thought Katsidis could have beaten Juan Diaz if he went back to fighting the way he did prior to that fight. Obviously his team thought otherwise and gave some of the most atrocious advice in the corner I've ever heard.

Katsidis is the type of fighter I can really appreciate and am entertained by however with certain people in his corner he's only going to go so far. He needs someone to take him to the next level and push him to that point as well. Katsidis isn't going to last much longer surrounded by the people he's around. Time for change Michael! I don't know what type of drug Smith is smoking when he says Katsidis would beat Manny...not if he fought the way he did against the baby bull! Michael needs a new trainer, manager, and people who aren't going to lie to him and change his total style.

If it's televised I'll be watching this one but I hope that things change for Katsidis.

I never thought Katsidis was in Diaz his league and their fight just proved that to me. Smith tried to turn Katisidis into a boxer but he walked away from that gameplan early into the fight. Contrary to what the article states that decision was anything but close, hell even Lederman had the fight scored pretty lopsided in favor of Diaz and itd be hard to disagree.

Brawlers dont stand a chance against Diaz, he's got too much experience and a heart to match
